With my first purchase,
a yellow male, from Sunnybrook Acres and Fran Ippensen, I have been
in love with the Labrador Retriever. Their gentle personality,
lively and playful nature, desire to please their master and beautiful
physical characteristics have forever bonded me to this breed.
"Gus", my first
Labrador was an awesome boy! He could retrieve my slippers or
a potato from the bin. He would swim children around the lake
holding onto his tail all day and then have a kink in it for a week.
There have been several well-loved Labradors since Gus, but none have
stolen my heart like he did.
I have been interested
in the genetics of the breed for a long time. My science teacher
mind is inquisitive about the defects we fight genetically in the Labrador.
I have focused on this in my breeding program and the certifications
I require of my own dogs. My intent is to breed quality not quantity.
I have finished
two champions in the conformation ring and won major points with one
of my favorite girls, Tracy. At this point in MY life, I say,
"Been there, done that!" I strive for show quality conformation
in healthy, genetically sound companion dogs.
Stoneridge Labradors
typically produces one to two litters per year. For that reason,
potential owners have had to sometimes wait to own one of my puppies.
It is my goal
and desire to breed Labrador Retrievers of sound structure and physical
beauty within breed standards with a loving temperament. I have tried
to combine the drive and instinct of the English "type" Labrador with
the looks and appeal of the American breeding style. My kennel focus
is on black and yellow Labrador Retrievers that can hunt, show, sleep
by the fire or keep their owner company on an evening walk.
